African Researchers (AR) Magazine is expanding its editorial team and is inviting passionate, driven, and research-oriented individuals to join as:

🗞️ ROLE SUMMARY – RESEARCH JOURNALIST

As a Research Journalist, you will help bridge the gap between academic research and the general public by crafting compelling narratives that showcase African innovations, research findings, and thought leaders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and interpret African research topics for wider audiences

  • Write articles, features, and reports on groundbreaking research and innovations

  • Conduct interviews with researchers, academics, and thought leaders

  • Help translate technical findings into digestible, engaging content

  • Collaborate with editors to meet monthly publication timelines

  • Participate in virtual editorial meetings and workshops


👥 WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds — especially those passionate about African development, research communication, and storytelling.

Ideal Candidates May Be:

  • Post graduate students or recent graduates in journalism, communication, science, health, social sciences, or related fields

  • Emerging researchers or academics with a flair for writing

  • Writers, bloggers, or content creators with an interest in research and African affairs

  • Volunteers seeking meaningful contributions to African development

  • Professionals looking for virtual internships or editorial experience

💡 Skills & Qualities Desired:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (in any discipline relevant to research, journalism, or communication)

  • At least one published research article in an open-access journal

  • Strong writing and communication skills

  • Curiosity and analytical thinking

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

  • Familiarity with research language or willingness to learn

  • Passion for African research, innovation, and knowledge dissemination
