The magazine publishes latest African research news and, profiles African researchers and their innovative research works, thereby accelerating the dissemination of knowledge within the international research community.

SALES & MARKETING (Volunteer/Internship)

Job Description

  1. Meets marketing and sales financial objectives
  2. Determines annual and gross-profit plans by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for regions; projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products; analyzing trends and results; establishing pricing strategies; recommending selling prices; monitoring costs, competition, supply, and demand.
  3. Accomplishes marketing and sales objectives by planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating advertising, merchandising, and trade promotion programs; developing field sales action plans.
  4. Identifies marketing opportunities by identifying consumer requirements; defining market, competitor’s share, and competitor’s strengths and weaknesses; forecasting projected business; establishing targeted market share.
  5. Improves product marketability and profitability by researching, identifying, and capitalizing on market opportunities; improving product packaging; coordinating new product development.
  6. Sustains rapport with key accounts by making periodic visits; exploring specific needs; anticipating new opportunities.
  7. Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  8. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations, attending international conferences.

Job Requirement

Financial Planning and Strategy, Marketing Concepts, Positioning, People Management, Territory Management, Sales Planning, Competitive Analysis, Understanding the Customer, Product Development, Client Relationships, Creative Services. A knowledge of Academic Research will be a key advantage.

  • A degree in Marketing, Business, Mathematics or other related field (equivalent proven professional experience may be considered in lieu of degree)
  • Advanced knowledge of AdWords, Analytics, SQL, Microsoft Office and other relevant third-party tools
  • Proficient in developing pivot tables, advanced data analytics and problem solving
  • Experience in fast-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent at customer service
  • Google AdWords Certification is a plus
  • Google Analytics Certification is a plus

As a staff writer, you should be able to perform thorough research on various topics and have a keen eye for detail. Ultimately, you should be able to deliver good quality content like news posts, reviews and features. This role allows for remote work.

DATA ANALYST (Volunteer/Internship)

Job brief

We are looking for a passionate certified Data Analyst. The successful candidate will turn data into information, information into insight and insight into business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities

Requirements

  • Proven working experience as a data analyst or business data analyst
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc), databases (SQL etc), programming (XML, Javascript, or ETL frameworks)
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc)
  • Knowledge of R, SQL and Python; familiarity with Scala, Java or C++ is an asset
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy

SOCIAL MEDIA PERSONNEL (Volunteer/Internship)

Job brief

We are looking for a passionate Social Media Personnel. The successful candidate will engage the community referred to are users who connect with African Researchers through any platform it has a presence on, including followers, fans of our Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube, LinkedIn and Research Gate pages as well as those who have signed up to the newsletter and downloaded the App in the various App stores

Responsibilities

  • Manage all activities on social media on behalf of AR
  • Attend and respond to customer via social media
  • Content creation
  • Online customer service and client management.

Requirement

  • Knowledge of Social media and content creation
  • Corel draw/ photoshop is an advantage
  • Digital marketing certification with past experience
